Different Rum

Different Rum

A sure-fire hit from Ableforth’s, Rumbullion! is a cockle-warming spiced concoction, based on the kind of rich, full-bodied rums the seafaring fraternity would have enjoyed centuries ago.

At the core of this fabulous winter warmer lies a blend of the very finest high proof Caribbean rum, to which was added creamy Madagascan vanilla and a generous helping of zesty orange peel. A secret recipe was followed, finished with a handful of cassia and cloves and just a hint of cardamom.

Rumbullion! proudly flaunts its maritime inspiration with a label that bears a hand-drawn illustration of a Navy grog tub, emblazoned with the words: “The Queen, God Bless Her”, and just like all of the fine spirits in the Ableforth’s arsenal, each bottle is wrapped in crinkled brown paper, wound with twine and sealed with black wax.

Enjoy it neat, or with ice and squeeze of fresh lime.

The Project #173 range brings together the tastiness of rum and the tastiness of… Well, all sorts of tastiness! Specifically for this expression, the quality core of rum has teamed up with black cherry to create a full-flavoured spirit bursting with tangy, vibrant fruit notes. It’s naturally flavoured to bring across authentic cherry elements, so expect a drink that will most certainly do very well with cola, as well as being more than suitable for sipping over ice or in a cocktail. Plus, the bottle itself is rather neat too, featuring a flake of 23 karat gold leaf!

The folks behind the excellent Jaffa Cake Gin have gone ahead and found a new partner for the classic orangey, chocolatey treat – rum! Akin to its gin-based sibling, Jaffa Cake Rum is made with actual, no-foolin’ Jaffa cakes, alongside oranges, fresh orange peel and cocoa powder, but this time it’s been blended with Caribbean rum! As it turns out, this is also an ideal combination – which shouldn’t be too surprising, considering that chocolate plus rum and orange plus rum are both fab flavour combos already. However, when they all come together in Jaffa Cake Rum, it is spectacular! Not only does it do very well in a Daiquiri, it also makes a mean Rum Old Fashioned with only a splash of vermouth needed.
